Ticks are a growing problem in Britain. Found mostly in woods and grassland areas, ticks are found throughout the country, including in parks in major cities like London. These tiny creatures attach themselves to the skin, feeding on blood for several days. Ticks can carry nasty diseases like Lyme disease, and should be removed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it is difficult to remove ticks safely without increasing the risk of infection.
The HypaGuard Tick Remover is designed for the safe removal of ticks. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible with the tick remover, and then gently pull the tick upwards, trying not to squeeze the body. It is important to try not to compress the tick too much as this can cause it to vomit infected material into the bite. You must also be careful not to pull upwards too forcefully, or there is a risk that the head or mouthparts might snap off inside the wound and cause infection. Once the tick is removed, clean the bite with antiseptic or soap and water. You should disinfect the tick remover before reuse.
